The socket standard is the real constraint
An IPL device needs DC power, and the wall gives AC. Something has to convert it, and that something has to physically fit the socket it is plugged into.
That last requirement is where single-market thinking breaks down. A US plug has two flat parallel blades. The UK type has three rectangular pins with a fuse in the plug body. Europe uses round pins on a recessed socket. Australia has two angled blades forming a V. Japan looks like the US at a glance and is close enough to fit in a pinch, but the standard is its own document and the voltage is 100V rather than 120V.
Five regions, five physical interfaces. A brand that packs one fixed adapter has to forecast which market each carton is going to, and then hope the forecast holds after the carton leaves the factory. Get it wrong and the return does not cost you the adapter, it costs you the device, because you cannot test an IPL device without powering it.
Standards exist for each of these interfaces, and they are national rather than interchangeable: the UK plug is specified by BS 1363, the international family of plug and socket-outlet types is catalogued under IEC 60083, and the IEC publishes a country-by-country overview in its World Plugs reference.
What we ship instead: one plug, many sockets
The travel plug is the same electrical device in every version. What changes is what it plugs into.

The 6A 250V rating is comfortably above what an IPL device draws. An IPL unit is a pulsed load, and the adapter is not the component that shapes the pulse, so the electrical requirement on this part is mainly about surviving the inrush and staying cool rather than about hitting a peak figure. Copper pins or iron pins: what the difference actually buys you
This is the decision most brands ask about, and the honest version has two sides. Copper is the better conductor. It also costs more, and it ships in smaller cartons.

For a premium device, copper. For a volume accessory where the adapter is a giveaway in the box, iron performs the job and the freight math is friendlier. The USB version uses copper pins, because that variant carries an extra load. Certifications
The adapter is supplied with RoHS, CE and FCC certification.
Those three are worth knowing by scope rather than by name. RoHS is an EU restriction on hazardous substances in electrical equipment, set out by the European Commission, and the CE mark on a mains-powered accessory sits under the Low Voltage Directive as well as RoHS. FCC certification is a US radio-frequency emissions matter, covered in Part 15 of the FCC rules. The USB version, and the number you need to check first
The USB port exists so the traveller can charge a phone from the same thing that powers the IPL device. USB output is DC 5V / 1000mA.
Are you clear on what that means for your customer? 1000mA is 1A. It will charge a phone. It will not charge a tablet at any reasonable speed, and it will not fast-charge anything that expects a higher-current handshake. Standards for how a USB port advertises its current capacity exist for exactly this reason, and the USB Implementers Forum publishes the battery charging specification that defines those levels. A 1A port is a standard-rate port under that framework, and consumers who expect otherwise will read the experience, not the spec, as a fault.
The USB port has no charge-controller role here, so the figure to check is simply whether your target customer’s device expects more than 1A to charge at an acceptable rate. If the answer is no, the USB version is free margin. If the answer is yes, ship the plain version and let the customer charge from a separate brick.
One more detail that surprises people: one USB port and two USB ports cost the same. The price difference is in whether the port exists, not in how many.

What one adapter replaces
The arithmetic the travel plug is built around is simple. A customer travelling to the UK, Australia, Germany and the US would otherwise need four separate AC adapters, four certifications to keep straight, and four ways for one of them to be left in a hotel room.
With a travel plug they need one adapter and one plug standard. The customer keeps a US-standard device plug and adds the travel adaptor to reach any of the other sockets.
That is a small accessory doing a large amount of work for a product that is useless unplugged. It is also why adapters are one of the places where cheap sourcing shows up first and hurts most, which we wrote about after tearing down counterfeits in the ugly truth about IPL manufacturers.

Iron at 200 per carton is roughly double the density per carton, so it takes about half the cartons for the same quantity. That matters more than the unit price difference once freight is in the calculation. How to specify this part
Three decisions cover it.
Pick the pin material: copper for a premium device where the adapter is part of the unboxing, iron for volume where it is a utility. Pick whether the USB port is worth $1.50 of margin to your customer, and check the 1A figure against their devices before you decide. Frequently Asked Questions
Can we buy the adapter separately from the device?
Yes. It is a discrete accessory line, not a captive part, and it is priced as an accessory rather than bundled into the device cost.
Can we have it in black?
Yes. White is the default because it matches most device bodies, and black is a standard option. Specify it at the order stage, since the colour is set in the moulding run.
Is the 250V rating relevant for 100V Japan?
The rating is a maximum, not a target. A 6A 250V part operates on a 100V supply without issue; the figure tells you what it can tolerate, not what it needs.
Can we put our own branding on it?
